Integra Group supplies third heavy drilling rig to Gazprom for its Yamal operations

Moscow, 31 July 2008. Uralmash – burovoe oborudovanie (UrBo) - subsidiary of Integra Group – today conducted a test assembly and presentation of the third heavy drilling rig 4200250 EK-BM (Ch) for the needs of Gazprom. The drilling rig was named “Ekaterina” after Ekatrerinburg where the first, similar heavy drilling rig was commissioned. All three rigs were produced under the contract with  Gazkomplektimpex envisaging delivery of 11 rigs in total.

Today’s  test assembly of  the third drilling rig was completed at the new production site of the Tyumen shipbuilding plant (Tyumen branch of UrBo), which was opened this May specifically to for the delivery of the Gazprom order. Test assembly service reduces  the drilling rig installation time at the field. In addition the use of the Tyumen site, which is located closer to the Customer’s fields, should reduce the overall transportation time.

Commenting on the execution of the contract with Gazprom, Vitaliy Tkachev, Integra’s Executive Vice President for Equipment Manufacturing and President of Uralmash-VNIIBT, said:

“The delivery to the Customer of the third heavy drilling rig demonstrates that Uralmash – burovoe oborudovanie is carrying out its contractual obligations ahead of schedule for the project of state importance – the development of hydrocarbons in the Yamal peninsula.

“The new test assembly site in Tyumen was built under UrBo’s expansion program and is used in addition to the existing platform in Ekaterinburg. This should allow our manufacturing companies to raise the quality of services provided and provide more flexibility.

“In the future, the Tyumen site will be expanded so that two heavy drilling rigs can be assembled on it  simultaneously,  this will allow us to reach our mid-term target of commissioning around 25 heavy cluster drilling rigs in a year."

“Uralmash – burovoe oborudovanie”

In September 2005 Integra Group acquired ZAO Uralmash- burovoe oborudovanie, which became the owner of technical and engineering documentation for drilling rig manufacturing. UrBO is a legal successor of engineering developments and technical documentation in the sphere of drilling equipment. Under the license agreement UrBO has the rights to use URALMASH trademark for its equipment.

In the three years following the acquisition of UrBO, the Group reestablished the production of drilling equipment. UrBO has received large orders from Gazprom for the production of 11 heavy drilling rigs and from Rosneft for 4 heavy drilling rigs. As a result, in 2007 the number of full set drilling rigs produced, increased to 28 from just 2 in 2005. By the end of 2008 16 drilling rigs will be delivered to the customers.

At present “Uralmash- burovoe oborudovanie" is the biggest engineering center in Russia (employing 246 construction engineers) and it has realized in limited terms a scale programme of production modernization.

The Tyumen shipbuilding plant (TSZ):

Under the production expansion program of "Uralmash- burovoe oborudovanie" in 2006 the Tyumen branch was opened using production facilities of the Tyumen shipbuilding plant ("̉SZ") where production had been virtually nonexistent.

The factory now produces the metal constructions for drilling rigs. From the beginning of 2007 up to the middle of 2008 the factory has launched 21 new kinds of products, and this expansion process is still ongoing.

The volume of production in 2007 amounted to 1.25 thousand tons and worth 227 million roubles. Strong growth in output is evidence by an increase in volumes from just 36 tons in the first quarter of 2007 to 1,300 tons in the first quarter of 2008.

The further prospects of the development of the plant envisage continued growth in output. In 2008 TSZ plans to increase output up to 5.3 thousand tons and 984 million roubles accordingly, which implies nearly four times growth compared to 2007.
