Oil and Gas Sector: Achievements and Prospects

“Prospecting and Exploration of Oil Deposits, Oil Extraction and Processing and Petrochemistry” conference completed its work today in the exhibition center of the capital of Turkmenistan. The forum took place within the frameworks of an international exhibition of the same name and was attended by representatives of 70 major international companies from 20 countries, by specialists of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry, as well as by students of relevant universities.

During two days activities, the conference covered wide spectrum of issues relating to the key directions of the Turkmen fuel and energy industry development and the prospects of building partnerships in such areas as geological prospecting, drilling, application of modern technologies and scientific innovations in geophysical and seismic explorations, intensive fuel extraction from the long term operated fields, exploitation of deep seated hydrocarbons, and modernization of oil extracting and petrochemical plants.

It was noted that due to its rich resources of hydrocarbons, favorable investment climate, large scale programs of dynamic fuel and energy sector development and high consumer demand for oil and energy products, the market of Turkmenistan has become most attractive for foreign investors and businessmen.

At the conference, over 40 presentations were made, some of them accompanied by video and diapositive materials. Among the speakers, there were chief executives of energy agencies of the neighboring countries who shared their experience in organization of oil and gas industry operation. Natig Aliyev, Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan, and Seid Kesaizade, Deputy Oil Minister and Director General of the National Gas Company of Iran, addressed their Turkmen colleagues on the subject.

Long term cooperation with Turkmenistan was highly valued by its partners including such world known companies as Schlumberger, Hulliberton, Total, Barren Energy, Integra, and Soyuzneftegaz among others.
